“Leitch, an Australian-born director living in New Zealand, entered her short film Whakatiki into the festival as a “work in progress”, with no grading or sound mixing. Even in this form, a Tribeca programmer fell in love with it.”
Excerpt from Mark Juddery’s article for The Weekly Review.
Whakatiki’s world premiere at Tribeca Film Festival was a huge success – four sold-out screenings to switched-on New York audiences. “I loved your film!” – this from a woman crossing the street after our first screening. Wow. I could get used to this. Saw some dynamite films and met with filmmakers from all over the globe – inspirational. Thank you Tribeca …. I hope I’ll be back.
